The Kingdom Hall is a place where Jehovah’s Witness show worship to their God. How is this worship shown you ask? It’s done by devoting time to learn about and draw closer to Jehovah our God. Also to encourage and uplift brothers, sisters and bible students inside the congregation. For apostle Paul wrote “not forsaking our meeting together, as some have the custom, but encouraging one another, and all the more so as you see the day drawing near.” (Hebrews 10, 25)
For those who have never been to a meeting at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, I’ll take this time to walk you through a Sunday meeting. The Sunday meetings are my favorite. This meeting is called the Watchtower Study. Walking into the Kingdom Hall is a comforting feeling. You are greeted with smiles and greetings from the brothers of the congregation. You walk pass what is similar to an lobby area then enter into an well build auditorium where there is a stage. The stage is the teaching platform where the elders (a title that has been giving to some spiritually mature brothers of the congregation) conduct the meeting.
The brother walk on to the stage and says the meeting will be starting and people start to come back to their seats from congregating. We start the meeting with a song of praise for our God, Jehovah. The lyrics drop down on the projector screen or is displayed on a flat screen T.V against the wall. The music is played and we all stand if able and began to sing.
After the song is over one of the elders began our meeting with a prayer ending in Jesus name, Amen.
The Watchtower study first half is a bible talk. These talks I most enjoy. An elder comes up to the stage and gives this talk. Its most likely about a bible principle and includes scriptures that correlate with the message. It’s always informational and can be really enjoyable depending on the speaker. I never actually timed the talks but I’m pretty sure the speaker talks for 30 to 45 mins.
After the speaker is done the lyrics to another song of praise is displayed. Music is played and we began to stand and sing again. This symbolizes the half way mark of our meeting. After the song is over, we sit and the 2nd half is of our meeting begins.
The 2nd half our are meeting is the Watchtower study. The Watchtower is a magazine with articles that have questions for Witnesses to study and answer. Its normally 20 short paragraphs with questions before each paragraph. Here’s a Sample Watchtower.
After the Watchtower we close with everyone standing to sing our last song of praise and then an elder says prayer.
